Heavy rains and hailstorm wreaked havoc in many villages of Sopore on Thursday evening.
Reports of damage to vegetable crop and apple orchards,which are in flowering season, from the hailstorm in Sopore, Zaingeer and otherparts of the district Baramulla.
The orchardists in the district told that the briefhailstorm caused damage to vegetable crops and other fruits. “This year, weexpected a good crop as our orchards seemed to be abundant in apples, but thehail storms have not only dashed our hopes, but also left the orchardists indesperation,” said Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a farmer of Sopore.
Meanwhile farmers have appealed the authorities tocompensate the loss.
