A series of functions were held across Kashmir division on Wednesday to observe International Labour Day.
At Baramulla, a functionwas organized by Labour department at Sheerwani Hall, Baramulla which waspresided over by the District Development Commissioner Baramulla GN Itoo.
The function wasattended by ACD, Baramulla, Assistant Labor Commissioner (ALC), Baramulla,Chief Executive Officer MCB, Chairman Human Aid Society, Officers of variousfunctionaries, representatives of various Trade Unions and a good number ofLabour Community.
Speaking on theoccasion, the DC while highlighting the importance of Labour Day, lauded therole of labourers for their hard work. He said the issues of the laborers needto be considered on priority.
At Anantnag, theDistrict Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Anantnag organized a function tocelebrate “International Labour Day”.
During the function,scores of organised and unorganised labourers were provided informationregarding various welfare schemes and programmes launched by government forthem, besides apprising them about the legal assistance available at districtlevel.
On the occasion Secretary DLSA Anantnag, Rafia Hassan Khakishared information regarding important provisions of various labourregulations.
The Presidents ofdifferent Labour Unions also spoke on the occasion about the difficulties andproblems faced by them.
In Shopian variousactivities and programs were organised at various places of the district by theoffice of Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Shopian to commemorate the day.
