Japanese delegation visits SKUAST-K

To strengthen the cooperation between OISCA International, Japan and SKUAST-K in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Organic Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Development Programmes a twenty-member delegation of OISCA International Japan led by President Dr Yoshiko Nakano, visited SKUAST-Kashmir today, a varsity spokesperson said.

To strengthen the cooperation between OISCA International, Japan and SKUAST-K in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Organic Agriculture and Entrepreneurship Development Programmes a twenty-member delegation of OISCA International Japan led by President Dr Yoshiko Nakano, visited SKUAST-Kashmir today, a varsity spokesperson said.

OISCA-International has been pioneer in introducing rice production technologies like nursery bed preparation, art of line transplanting, pruning of apple trees, scientific methods of mushroom cultivation etc. when they had visited in the year 1966.

An interaction meet was held between the scientists of SKUAST-Kashmir lead by Prof. Nazeer Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K and OISCA-International Japan delegation led by Dr.(Ms.) Yoshiko Nakano President OISCA. Dr. Hashmatullah Khan Ex-Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, Officers of the university and HoD's of SKUAST-Kashmir and the farmers who have worked with the OISCA International Japan in the year 1966 also participated.

The delegation also visited Mountain Research Centre for Field Crops, Khudwani of SKUAST-Kashmir. They participated in the live paddy transplantation activities in the field with Vice-Chancellor,Director Research and the field workers of the Centre. Thereafter, an interaction meeting was held where Hon'ble Member Parliament, Mr. Nazir Ahmad Laway, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K, Officers from the Line Departments & huge number of rice farmers participated.
