JK Govt’s group medical insurance offered by ICICI Lombard witnesses 35% increase”
The Jammu and Kashmir Government Group Medical Insurance Scheme, managed by ICICI Lombard, recorded a 35 percent growth in enrolment from 18,102 employees in 2014, the first year of the scheme, to 24,356 employees as on January 12, 2017.
The insurance company has also settled 1,451 claims during the same period, a spokesperson for the insurance company said.
Over the last three years, ICICI Lombard's group medical insurance scheme in partnership with the J&K government has increased penetration of health insurance among state government's gazzetted employees. The policy covers medical expenses up to Rs 5 lakh for employees and their family members, including spouse, children, parents and parents of spouse.
In 2016, parents and parent's of spouse were the biggest beneficiaries of the J&K Government Group Medical Insurance Scheme, accounting for 44 per cent of the total claims settled in 2016-17. Spouses accounted for 29 percent of claims. In terms of age, 40 percent of claims were settled for insured in the age group of 56-75 years, followed by 32 percent in the 36-55 year bracket.
Some of the key benefits offered under the group medical insurance scheme are: The policy covers treatment of all medical/surgical care requiring minimum 24 hours hospitalisation. Covers expenses up to Rs. 5 lakh per year per family on floater basis subject to terms and conditions of the scheme.Day-care procedures are also covered under the scheme. Cover available to employee, spouse, children, parents as well as in-laws.
