Kashmir Economic Forum today ridiculed AAP minister Kapil Mishra for his statement that "Kashmir is not safe for tourists." The AAP minister had said this at Bharat International Travel Bazaar (BITB) in New Delhi yesterday.
In a statement, KEF chairman Showkat Chowdhary said when it comes to the protection and hospitality of tourists, Kashmir is safer than Delhi.
Chowdhary said Kashmiris "have always shown utmost respect, love and regard to the tourists."
"Kashmir is most secure and safe for tourists. There is not a single example about any tourist to have been harmed in Kashmir irrespective of the conditions the Valley remains under," Chowdhary said.
He said Kashmiris have shown hospitality of highest standard for the visitors even during testing times. "Kashmir is known world over for its hospitality. Even during bad times in the past, the Kashmiris have made tourists feel at home," Chowdhary said.
He said the 2014 floods that devastated Kashmir is witness how Kashmiris ensured that tourists staying that time here were safely evacuated.
"Even during floods, Kashmiris provided food, safe shelter to stranded tourists. Those tourists who have visited Kashmir testify our hospitality and nobility," said KEA Chairman.
He said even for the past three months of unrest in Kashmir, not a single tourist was harmed. "The Amarnath Yatris who visit here are helped by locals only. They even visited here during Amarnath land row and were safe," said Chowdhary.
