Niti Aayog’s Aspirational Districts: Workshop on preparing action plan for transformation of Kupwara held

Chief Planning Officer, Kupwara today held a  daylong workshop to prepare action plan for 2018-22 for the transformation of this backward district, as  Niti Ayog has recently identified it as one of 114 aspirational district across India.

The workshop is aimed at preparing action plans for the next five years, CPO Imtiyaz Ahmad said while opening the workshop. The workshop was conducted for the district administration and other office bearers heading the district.

District officers were asked to involve all stake holders in identifying the developmental needs and quantifying gaps with respect to infrastructure, and social sectors.

On December 7, Joint Secretary RDD, GoI had visited the district and outlined the broader guidelines for framing the action plans.

The CPO said the benchmark indices of various sectors have been computed and vision document 2018-22 is under consolidation phase. The document is expected to be submitted to centre government on March 15.

CPO also sensitised the district officers about the guidelines to be followed while framing the plans and sought suggestions from them regarding modifications required in the guidelines of the centrally sponsored schemes.

He further stated that this is opportunity for the district officers to set their goals themselves, and witness the transformation of the District from 2018-2022.

The aspirational districts is a centre government policy initiative for the rapid transformation of 115 districts that are lagging on specific development parameters.
