PHD Chamber inks MoU with KU to train, mentor management students

Kashmir University’s Department of Management Studies on Monday signed an MoU with PHD Chamber of Commerce for the university-industry collaboration to provide, internships, trainings, placement and other facilities to the students of the varsity’s management studies. 

Also a daylong workshop on ‘capacity building of existing MSMEs and Startups to make them globally competitive was held. 

   

The MOU was signed in presence of Vice-Chancellor, Talat Ahmad, who was chief guest of the session and the MoU was signed by Mushatq Ahmad Darzi, head of department Management Studies and Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya, chairman of Kashmir chapter of PHD Chamber. The inaugural session of the program was attended by a number of dignitaries including Anil Khaitan, presedent PHD Chamber, Rene Van Berkel, UNIDO representative regional office India, Ram Mohan Mishra, AS & DC Ministry of MSME, Government of India and Ranjeet Mehta, Principal Director, PHD Chamber, Baldev Singh of Peaks Auto and representatives from J&K Bank, ICICI Bank and GEM portal.

 Prof Talat on the occasion highlighted the need for developing a strong interface with the industry and stressed the importance of working together with the relevant stake holders for socio economic development of the society. He further added that the university will initiate proactive measures to strengthen these collaborations and to explore further possibilities of such tie ups for the benefit of student community.

Chaya in his speech said that the chamber will work in close coordination with the Department of Management Studies for mentoring and training the students of Kashmir University and also to help in their placements. He also highlighted the role of PHD chamber in developing the industrial landscape of the state.

Khaitan presented an overview of the activities of the PHD Chamber and stressed on promoting environment for development of MSMEs in the country and stress on the importance of MSMEs in India.

Ram Mohan Mishra, AS & DC Ministry of MSME, Government of India highlighted the various schemes being offered by the Govt. of India for startups and MSMEs.

Mr. Rene Van Berkel, UNIDO representative regional office India highlighted the role of UNIDO in promotion of industrial climate in various countries across the globe.

 While welcoming the dignitaries, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Darzi, Head, Deptt. of Management Studies, University of Kashmir, thanked the dignitaries’ for their august presence. He also expressed his gratitude to the PHD chamber for signing the MOU. He also added that the MOU will benefit the student community by providing them opportunities of being mentored by leading industrialist and entrepreneurs of the country.
