Kashmiri aspirants for the post of Probationary Officer (PO) advertised by State Bank of India (SBI) Thursday demanded the "new examination centers" be set up by the bank in Srinagar. The candidates said the bank has designated new examination centers at Pathankote in Jammu rather than in Srinagar.
A delegation of the candidates told Greater Kashmir that the bank had earlier conducted tests in Srinagar on July 9 and July 10. "However, due to present unrest, around 800 candidates couldn't appear in these tests," they said.
They said that SBI authorities have now announced July 23 as the day for conducting examination of those who couldn't appear on past dates in the test and fixed the centers in Jammu rather than in Srinagar.
They said they had taken up the matter with SBI authorities. "However, they refused to shift the examination centre to original place (Srinagar). We are not able to move outside of homes due to curfew and restrictions. How can we make it to Jammu," they questioned.
They appealed authorities to shift their examination centres from Jammu to Srinagar "the original place which they have also opted as examination entre while filling up application forms for these posts."
