Srinagar: Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) today sought budgetary support from the government to bring Kashmir’s economy back on track.

KTMF’s representatives led by its General Secretary, Bashir Ahmad Kongposh today participated in pre-budget consultations in which they put forth their suggestions for the upcoming budget.

“Since UT formation of J&K many central rules have been extended to this part which has seen manifold increase in dues such as sanitation fee and others. A budgetary support should be provided by the UT govt for a period of 2 years to bring the economy back on track by then,” Kongposh said.

He said that they suggested government provide relief to the transport sector in the upcoming budget as they have been the worst hit. Mini power stations to be permitted for the locals so as to augment more power generation.

“We suggested government that grade separators to be made in other districts of Kashmir which are witnessing huge traffic snarls such as Baramulla, Anantnag, Pulwama and Kupwara,” he said.

“Need of parking facility in downtown as there is not a single parking facility available in the downtown and other districts of Kashmir. We urged the government to allocate funds for development of parking spaces and measures to ease traffic movement,” he said.
