SBI ATM in Sumbal defunct

Causing immense inconvenience to the customers, State Bank of India ATM in Sumbal is defunct for the last one week due to some system failure.

Customers say that the ATM remains mostly defunct despite being attached to the main branch in the town and located at a prime location. When we visit the other ATMs of the area the situation is no different.

“Despite our complaints on daily basis, the ATM remains non-functional most of the time and presently it is not working for the last seven days,” says a SBI customer Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Sumbal.

“I came here after travelling 10 km to withdraw cash, but as soon as I stepped inside the ATM it signalled ‘out of service’and it is a routine here,” said another SBI customer Toufiq Ahmad, adding he had some exigency and needed cash urgently.

Customers talking to this reporter said that they had complained a number of times with the bank authorities but to no avail.

When this reporter contacted the SBI branch manager Sumbal regarding the reason why the ATM remains defunct often, he denied to comment.
