Tourism deptt to launch state wide cultural programmes
Tourism department on Thursday said that it will issue "destination specific cultural calendar" to highlight dates of the cultural events to be organised at different destinations of the state.
A spokesperson of the department said, the state wide cultural events to be launched by the department will promote State's unique, music, culture, art and craft.
The cultural calendars will be prepared for all the tourism development authorities of the state, which will also help attract tourists to lesser-known tourist places.
In this regard, Secretary Tourism R Sampheal, according the spokesperson, has instructed all assistant directors to prepare the calendars with the help of the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the respective tourism development authorities by the 15th of this month.
Secretary tourism said the move is aimed to promote cultural events well in advance so that the travellers would sync their itineraries with these events.
"We are launching cultural programmes across all the 24 development authorities for which we want good numbers to tourists to turn up and experience our unique culture, art and craft and music. We will be preparing the calendar of such cultural events and promote them in advance so that travellers prepare their itineraries accordingly," he said.
The tourism department is launching a state wide cultural program.
Director tourism Kashmir and Jammu have been made the nodal in-charge for the events.
