Training session on MIS Database held

Srinagar: Handicrafts and Handloom Department today conducted an on hand training session on MIS Database of Artisans under World Bank funded Jhelum and Tawi Flood Recovery Project for the Nodal Officers nominated by the Handicrafts and Handloom Department through M/S Spectrum Planning (India) Ltd at NIELIT Rangreth, Srinagar.

It was given out that the government aims to use the data of artisans and craftsmen to frame a targeted policy to boost the sector which is seen to have huge potential for employment generation and exports.

   

The agency has completed the survey of artisans and craftsmen associated with various crafts in the valley and compiled the data generated through software developed specifically for the purpose.

The data generated has been authenticated by the Department through the nominated Nodal Officers designated in every district.

The artisan data shall enable the department to do deeper, more predictive analytics which in turn can facilitate means that the department shall be able to make better decisions with greater efficiency.

The data generated would also be used to develop the future strategy to assess and proliferate the actual contribution of this important sector to the economy.
