The subscribers of BSNL here in this north Kashmir's border sub-division Tuesday complained against the erratic service offered by the telecom major.
The locals in the town alleged that they are unable to receive or make calls due to poor connectivity and have been facing the problem for the past few months.
"We have been facing a lot of inconvenience over erratic services provided by the company. Every time one attempts to make a call, the response is 'the number is not-reachable' or the message 'no network' gets displayed on the screen," a local here said.
The subscribers said they have to wait for hours for a call to get through.
"Though we are paying huge bills to the company, but they are not taking care to give us standard service," said a customer.
The worst-affected areas include Main Uri, Lagama, Salamabad, Garkote, Nambla, Syedpora, Hathlanga, Mothal, Silikote, and Balkote.
The customers have threatened to surrender their SIM cards if the company doesn't improve its services.
General Manager BSNL, Kashmir Saleem Beg said: "There was some road widening work going on the Uri highway which has blocked our network cable but we have repaired the cable and hopefully the service will be restored very shortly"
