Ramban, May 31: Banihal Police arrested a person after they recovered 13.2 kilogram poppy straw from his car during a naka checking at T-Chowk, Banihal, on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Wednesday.
Police said during routine Naka checking, a police party at T- Chowk Naka Banihal intercepted a Jammu bound car (Swift Dzire bearing registration number PB08CK- 2885) during whose checking 13.2 kilograms of poppy straw was recovered. Police said the driver of the car identified as Gurpreet Singh resident of New Deol Nagar, Jalandhar., Punjab was arrested on the spot. Police said the vehicle involved in the crime was also seized.
Police have registered a case under sections 8/15 NDPS Act at Police Station Banihal for further investigation.
