2 drivers arrested for overloading in passenger vehicles in Doda, Thatari

Ramban, Mar 23: Traffic Police National Highway Headquarter Ramban arrested two drivers for overloading and endangering lives of passengers in Doda and Thatari on Saturday.

Official sources said, teams of Traffic Sub-Division Doda-Kishtwar led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Kulvir Singh, Sector Officer Thathri under the supervision of DSP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar Shamsher Singh while checking of vehicles at Thathri-Phagsoo route intercepted a mini-bus bearing registration number JK06-0893. During checking, it was found that said mini-bus was carrying 31 passengers against the seating capacity of 16 passengers and hence endangering human lives.

   

Similarly another vehicle Sumo bearing registration number JK17-2378 on way from Charalla to Doda also found carrying 17 passengers against the sitting capacity of eight passengers (as per RC) endangering the lives of passengers. Cases were registered against registered against the drivers. Both the vehicles were seized on the spot and drivers of the vehicles stands arrested.

SSP Traffic National Highway, Ramban, Rohit Baskotra confirmed the report and said that stringent action against MV Act Violators is being taken and Traffic Police National Highway will continue its drive against traffic rule violators.
