Two persons died and the driver sustained grievous injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge on Banihal-Chapnari link road Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK02-0216 which was on its way to Chapnari village from Banihal town went out of control of its driver and fell into a gorge.
“Two persons died on the spot whereas the driver sustained grievous injuries,” police said.
Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Shafi Bhouroo, 70, son of Abdul Ahad Bhoroo, and Mohammad Shafi Lone, 60, son of Abdul Aziz Lone both residents of Chapnari tehsil Banihal.
The injured driver was identified as Arif Saleem, 22, son of Mohammad Saleem of Chapnari Banihal. He was admitted in sub district hospital Banihal for treatment.
A case under relevant sections of law was registered at police station Banihal, DSP Sajad Ahmad said.
