To create awareness in the villages across the District on the issues pertaining to the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation like building and use of toilets, safe handling of water, use of water only from safe sources in chemically contaminated habitations, use of drinking water from  bacterially contaminated sources only after treatment and to review the preparations for the celebration of "National Rural Drinking Water & Sanitation Awareness week" from March 16 to March 22, 2015, a meeting was today convened by Deputy Commissioner Doda , Bhupinder Kumar, which was attended by District and sector officers of the Doda.

During the Meeting DC Doda directed the Xen PHE Doda, A. W. Zargar to prepare guidelines for testing the drinking  water  with Field Testing Kits for distribution among the school children PRIs ,Anganwadi workers ,ASHA workers etc for generating awareness among the society.

He was directed to invariably test all the water sources and paint all contaminated sources with RED colour  and safe sources with Green colour besides he was instructed to display appropriate messages near contaminated sources to discourage the use of water from such source for drinking purpose.

CMO Doda was impressed upon to conduct awareness camps at Block and village levels in coordination with PO, ICDS Doda and sensitize all the ASHA and Anganwadi workers regarding the best practices of sanitation and personal hygiene and drinking water.The awareness programme should be focused on hand washing and use of boiled water for drinking, DC Doda said.

Chief Education Officer Doda was asked to insure the proper use of CCDU Kits for water testing, the supply of boiled water to the students during Mid day Meals and to purchase the filters for use of children in the schools.

District Information Officer Doda in collaboration with CEO Doda will organize symposiums, Declamation contests, Essay competitions, Plays and poster making competitions on the subject, DC Doda added.

District Information Officer Doda was instructed to prepare Jingles for daily Audio Announcement, and leaflets for distribution, beside Door to Door visits, Group Meetings, wall paintings, Messages on Hoardings at prominent places, daily discussion on sanitation and personal hygiene in schools etc. were thread barely discussed and necessary instructions were conveyed to the concerned quarters for successful celebration of this awareness week.

 It was further decided in the meeting that the awareness week will be inaugurated by bringing out the Rally with "IEC" vans and participation of school children, PRI members, SHGs, NCC,NGOs etc from District, Tehsil and Block levels.
