The dogs invade every lane and path, causing nuisance to the people, said residents of Kishtwar town. The business community is finding it hard to grapple with the menace of stray dogs. "We do not have an estimate of the number of stray dogs in the town but we are sure their population is rising by every day," Vinod Kumar, local businessman told to Greater Kashmir.

Locals said that due to the fear of stray dogs, they are not sending their children to tuitions. "We are not taking risk to allow our wards to leave home for school," they said.
