In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a nomad Gujjar was mauled by a wild bear at Sarbagni area of Ramban district, injuring him critically.
He has been identified as Zakir Hussain (22) son of Mohammad Shafi Choudary resident of Karna Sarbagni. As per police, the man on way back to home after day's work was attacked by a stray bear at Sarbagni Dhar.
The bear was hiding behind a thorny bush and abruptly attacked the man. Nearby villagers came to the rescue of the victim on hearing his cries, sources said.
Seriously injured Zakir was shifted to District Hospital Ramban for treatment.
Meanwhile, the people of the area have expressed strong resentment against wildlife department for not taking measures to prevent incidents of man-animal conflict in the area.
