Several villages were inundated as rivulets started overflowing following heavy rains that lashed various areas in Kishtwar area of Jammu and Kashmir during past two days, witnesses said.

The villages located in low-lying areas of the region were flooded due to rainwater which also hampered the movement of motorists and pedestrians by damaging the roads, especially the Kishtwar-Doda-Batote highway near Drabshalla.

Scores of passengers were stranded for hours due to landslides trigerred by rains in areas like Bandarkoot, Drabshalla and Kandni.

The connectivity to far-off hamlets in the mountainous Doda and Kishtwar districts was also snapped.
