Seeking justice, Doda man’s protest enters 45th day
Demanding probe into the death of his special police officer son, a 75-year old man in Doda has been on a sit-in protest for last 45 days, with the local administration hardly taking notice.
Prominent environmentalist Shashi Kumar Kesri, a resident of Arnora, Doda is demanding an independent probe by the CBI into the killing of his son who was working as SPO and was killed during an operation in Doda few years back.
That is not the only motive of his novel protest. He is also demanding compensation for the land and olive trees damaged due to the construction and widening of Doda-Bharath road apart from damages due to the landslides triggered by the incessant rains this year.
Daring the chilling winter, he is determined to continue his protest. "I am all alone in this battle but least bothered about that. My only aim is to get justice, but unfortunately the governments has turned a deaf ear", he says.
Kesri is the only farmer in the area who has developed an olive garden and supplies pure Olive oil to the market. He has also been awarded a medal in the field of environment conservation.
Meanwhile, social activist Naseer Khora has approached DC Doda in this connection urging him to forward the case of Kesri to the concerned authorities so that timely justice would be given to him.
