Er Rasheed’s detention undemocratic: AIP

The local unit of Awami Ittihad Party today flayed the government for detaining party president Engineer Rashid who was due to address party workers here and termed the move of the government as undemocratic and violative of fundamental rights of citizens.

In a statement, constituency head AIP Doda Advocate M. Arif Sheikh said Er Abdul Rasheed who was scheduled to address the party worker of all the three district Chenab region at Dak bunglow Doda today  was detained by the police at Batote while on his way to address the workers at Doda.

He condemned detention of the AIP president, saying detention of an elected member of the legislative assembly is illegal and against the spirit of constitution and democracy.

He further added that the present government is feeling insecure due to rising popularity pf Er Rasheed.

The meeting that was scheduled to be addressed by Rasheed was held and attended by constituency head Advocate Adil sheikh (Kishtwar ) constituency head advocate Towker Qadri (Banihal ) Waseem Trangroo advocate Saqib Khan Mohammad Akram (Bhaderwah) Shabir Ahamed Butt, Arsalan Mir, Mateen Tantaray (Ghat ) and other activists, the statement said.
