Officials of forest range Gool claimed to have recovered 76 scants of illicit timber from Jawari area of of Sumber here today. Officials said that swan timber was recovered from a cow shed "which had been illegally brought from compartment number 3 Sarbagni falling under forest range Ramban".
They said that on specific information a joint team of forest officials and Forest protection force of Gama unit headed by range officer Gool of Dharmari forest division searched three suspected premises belonging to Showkat Ahmed son of Mohaamad Ramzan Lohar, Reyaz Ahmed son of Noor Din Gujjar and Gulzar Ahmed son of Lal Din Gujjar, all residents of Ragidhar Jawari Sumber .
"76 scants of swan timber were recovered from a cow shed and other places", they said.
The Forest officials claimed that that timber had been cut down from compartment number 3 Sarbagni forest range Banihal of Ramban District and brought to Jawari falling under Gool forest range.
"A case under relevant sections of Jammu and Kashmir forest act has been registered at Police Station Dhramkund", they said adding that the seized timber has been kept under supurdnama till arrangements are made for head load and transportation.
