Civil society protests lack of specialist doctors at SDH Bhaderwah

While ruing the paucity of doctors in Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bhadarwah , Civil Society and Senior citizens today held a protest here against government for premature transfer of doctors and also not filling the vacant posts since long.

Members of civil society, political parties and Senior citizens after holding a protest at Takiya Chowk under the leadership of Senior politician Mast Nath Yogi, later submitted a memorandum to Health Minister Bali Bhagat through SDM Bhadarwah , demanding filling of vacant posts of specialist doctors at the earliest and also calling back the doctors who had gone for long leave immediately after joining at SDH Bhadarwah.

"This is pathetic on part of the Government in general and Health Department in particular that instead of filling the vacant specialist posts , they transferred recently posted ENT specialist to Doda without providing any replacement , due to which poor patients have no other option but to rush to Doda or Jammu for treatment," said senior politician Mast Nath Yogi.

"As promised and sanctioned by the previous government,Mother child care centre and  ANM training school should be immediately started in the old Hospital building," Yogi demanded.

"Sub District Hospital at Bhaderwah was set up to provide quality medicare to people of the area. But it is quite dismaying to note that this state-of-the-art hospital has failed to live to the expectations of people. This is due to a number of reasons which include shortage of doctors and para medical staff. Besides, the patients who can be treated at this hospital are reffered to either District Hospital Doda or to GMC Jarmusch," said Senior NC leader Choudhary Shabir Ahmed.

"We have been demanding basic madicare facilities at SDH Bhadarwah peacefully and democratically since long but unfortunately government is testing our patience by not listening to our repeated please even on humitarian grounds. Now, we are left with no other option but to start the path of agitation," said Mohd Ashraf Goni.

It is notable to mention here that recently a female Gynocology and anaesthetic were posted at SDH Bhadarwah but both the doctors proceeded on a long leave after joining.

"SDM has the authority and power to cancel the leave of the doctors and in the larger interest of the suffering patients, SDM should immediately cancel the leave of Gynocologist and anaesthetic," demanded Social Worker Tanver Ahmed Dev adding that SDM should not relieve any doctor unless his replacent joins.

Members of civil society also demanded regulation of traffic in Ganpat market, Sadar Bazaar and Seri Bazaar. They also demanded that a public convenience (Sulabh Toilet) be installed in Seri Bazaar without any further delay.

SDM Bhadarwah,Mohd Anwar Banday gave a patient hearing to members of civil society and senior citizens and assured them that he will not only take up the matter with concerned authorities but will also try his best to mitigate the basic problems being faced by the common public.

"We are soon going to declare Ganpat Market ,Sadar Bazaar and some other congested roads of the town as no parking zone and i will also like to inform you that 2 Sulabh Toilet complexes have been sanctioned for Bhadarwah town at Seri Bazaar and Pasri Bus Stand," said SDM Bhadarwah Mohd Anwar Banday.
