TRUCKERS STRIKE TRIGGERS FUEL CRISIS IN KISHTWAR, RAJOURI

Fuel crisis have hit many areas of Chenab Valley and Pir Panchal following the indefinite strike of Oil and Tankers Association in tandem with Truck Drivers Union.

 Sources said that motorists and two wheeler owners had to face lot of problem as most of the petrol pumps dried up in Chenab Valley, including Kishtwar district on Sunday.

Hundreds of private and government vehicles were stranded on petrol pumps in Kishtwar, where the   demand for fuel is already high due to the huge rush of pilgrims of ongoing Machail Yatra, they said.

While talking to Greater Kashmir, local petrol pump owners said they are running out of stock and the crisis are likely to aggravate further if the strike continued for some more days.

"We are waiting for directions from administration   after that we will decide to supply petrol and diesel to at least Yatris present in the town," they said. Fuel crisis hit Rajouri. Likewise, major fuel crisis hit Rajouri district due to strike call of Tankers Association and almost all the petrol pumps remained dry on Sunday.

People reached petrol pumps in hordes in the morning hours but many had to return disappointed as they didn't get the fuel. 

"We have no fuel now and it will be available only after the fresh supply is received," said a petrol pump owner.

"Government should resolve the crisis else life will come to a standstill," said a local Ramesh Kumar   while expressing anguish over the crisis.

The Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Bhat told Greater Kashmir that he is out of station. "I will ensure that essential services are not hit," he added.
