Withdrawing money against ‘fictitious’ claims: Police register case

The case has been registered on a written complaint lodged by some locals before Deputy Inspector General Doda Kishtwar Ramban range Headquarter at Batote alleging that crores of rupees had been awarded as compensation for non-existing fruit bearing trees fraudulently shown to have been "acquired for developing Jammu Srinagar National Highway into four lanes at Chanderkote."

On the receipt of the complaint, it had been entrusted for preliminary investigation and verification to Additional SP Ramban.

Source said it was found that government functionaries of Revenue Horticulture in league with private beneficiaries had allegedly hatched a criminal conspiracy with other associates with the intention to cheat state exchequer. It was alleged that money was withdrawn fraudulently from the state exchequer for nonexistent fruit bearing trees at village Chanderkote.

Additional SP Ramban Mushtaq Chudary while confirming the facts told Greater Kashmir that he has sent his findings to DIG and on his directions SHO Police Station Chanderkote has been directed to lodge FIR against persons involved.

SHO Police Station Chanderkote Inspector Daljeet Singh told Greater Kashmir that FIR number 2 of 2017 under sections 109/309/418/420/ 463/467/468/471 RPC is registered at this Police Station for further investigation into the case.

He said no one has yet been detained.
