A 24-year old pregnant woman died in Marwah.
A 24-year old pregnant woman died in Marwah. The woman has been identified as Gulshana wife of Mohd Ramzan Lone of Passer Marwah.
Sources told to Greater Kashmir that her case was critical and there was no advance treatment available at Primary Health Centre Marwah nor was there any transport facility to shift her to district hospital Kishtwar.
They said due to heavy snowfall the roads were blocked. Pertinently, locals during past some days were demanding air lifting of the stranded people and patients from the area.
They alleged that the government does not care for the life of people of Marwah and Warwan which are "cut off from the rest of the world due to absence of any transportation and communication facility for last two-three weeks."
When contacted, District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, Ghulam Nabi Balwan confirmed that "due to blood loss" the woman had died in PHC Marwah.
He said the requisition to airlift the critical patients had already been sent to higher authorities from his office but "the allotment is still pending."
He said that a chopper has already airlifted one pregnant lady from Inshan Warwan today where above six feet snow was accumulated.
He said he had also requested for airlifting facilities for the stranded people in headquarter Kishtwar.
