Prices of essentials have skyrocketed in Kishtwar as the district remained cut off from rest of the state for the fifth straight day on Tuesday due to blocking of Kishtwar-Jammu highway.
Locals said that chicken was being sold at Rs 300/kg while petrol litre cost Rs 130 per litre.
The Kishtwar-Jammu highway has remained blocked due to landslides near Drabshalla for the fifth consecutive day today.
"The passenger vehicles are charging Rs 100 for 20 km journey from Kishtwar to Drabshalla," they said.
Meanwhile, the officials of the district administration said that the restoration work was going on. "We hope to clear the highway by tomorrow," they said.
