The road restoration work at the washed out portion of Kishtwar Highway near Darabshalla is likely to be delay further as the administration has deferred its schedule of closing the road for two days to expedite the work.
As per official sources the decision to shut the road for two days from tomorrow to expedite the work has been deferred in view of VIP visit. "To accelerate and ensure unhampered work for full restoration of the 100 metre washed away stretch, administration had decided to close the road for newst two days. But the plan has now been changed in view of VIP movement" said a senior official. "This stretch has turned into death trap as the regular shooting stones claimed three precious lives last week and a huge portion of hillock is still hanging in the slide prone area, which is a great threat for commuters" said a R&B official. He said further delay in the permanent restoration of the road is an invitation to mishap. This can also compound the problems further.
