The residents of Mulchitra of Sigdi in district Kishtwar, have demanded construction of bridge over Mulchitra Nullah to provide safe connectivity to the people of several villages in the area who are forced to cross the flash flood prone at the risk of their life.

Over the years, many people had lost their fife in unfortunate incidents while crossing the wooden planks, they added.
Locals told to Greater Kashmir that the said that scores of school children also cross the stream to attend the Government Primary School Mulchitra.
"This temporary crossover is used by people of more than five villages including Zabkul and Malwar with the Mulchitra area and lead to Sigdi-Bhata. We have schools, market, primary health center in Mulchitra, for that we have to cross this dangerous bridge", said a local resident, Mohammad Abdullah.
He claimed that several precious lives have already been lost while crossing this risky nallah.
"During the rainy season, the water level raises and touches the wooden planks which create problem for the pedestrians" locals added.
Slamming the authorities, locals said the construction of bridge over the nullah was the responsibility of district administration but its response had been sluggish said another resident Abdul Qayoom.
"We have filed several representations with the concerned department but they always turn a deaf ear to our plea," said Qayoom.
