A woman was killed and 35 others injured after a passenger bus skidded off the road and plunged into a stream in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
Reports said the bus plunged into a 200 ft stream at Kahara after the driver lost control over it.
In the mishap, a middle-aged woman identified as Kulsuma Begum of Gandoh lost her life.
Witnesses present at the spot said that bus was on way to Doda from Halran.
Officials said that with the help of locals, police launched a rescue operation and shifted the injured passengers to a hospital at Thathri, where from 25 injured declared as "serious" by doctors were referred to Doda district hospital.
"An inquiry will also be initiated to find out how 36 passengers were travelling in a 20 seat capacity vehicle," said Sub District Magistrate Thathri, Mohammad Anwar Banday.
Meanwhile, police has registered a case.
