The workers of Congress Party today staged a protest demonstration at Dak Bungalow, Kishtwar, against the BJP-PDP coalition government alleging that both the parties betrayed the people and did not fulfill the promises made during elections.

The protesters alleged that the government failed to provide even basic amenities to the people like Bijli, Sarak and Pani.

The Congress workers, led by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) vice president and MLA Inderwal, Ghulam Mohammed Saroori, assembled at Dak Bungalow Kishtwar where they held a strong protest demonstration.

They raised slogans against the BJP-PDP coalition government alleging that the promises made during the elections have not been fulfilled.

"The people have been betrayed by both BJP and the PDP," Saroori said while addressing the protesting Congress workers.

The BJP-RSS ideology is to divide the country and spread anger and hate, Saroori said adding that PDP-BJP coalition government failed to provide Pani, Bijli and Sarak, the basic amenities to the people.

Addressing party workers, Saroori said the Congress has always stood firmly in support of weaker sections. He said that the SC/ST Act was passed by the Rajiv Gandhi led government to protect the SC and ST communities.

Party chief Rahul Gandhi is also raising his voice on these issues.

"Since they (BJP-PDP) joined hands, the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifold. While the BJP cheated people of Jammu, the people of Kashmir were cheated by the PDP," Saroori said.

He said that all the promises made to the people prior to the Assembly elections of 2014 remained unfulfilled.

"More than three and half years have passed but they (BJP-PDP) have failed to fulfill any of the promises, be it the problems faced by the rural people, be it implementation of 7th pay commission, be it the problems faced by the farmers or be it the problems of Kashmiri people, none have been addrerssed," he said.

The promise of "Ache-Din" has not been fulfilled, he said.

Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Haji Ghulam Mohd Kohli, Mohd Iqbal Keen, Chowdhary Farooq Ahmed, Chowdhary Ishaq, Asgar Hussain Khangi, Firdous Ahmed Mingnoo, Waseem Maker, Waseem Sajjad Saroori and others also spoke on the occasion.
