Hurriyat Conference (M) on Tuesday said that people of Chenab Valley are facing "atrocities" for their affiliation with Kashmir struggle.
In a statement here a spokesman of the conglomerate said, "A 20-member delegation from Kishtwar district met Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and apprised him about the prevailing situation in Doda, Bhaderwah, and Chenab Valley."
"The delegation assured full support to the Mirwaiz stating that people of Chenab valley have always been with the pro-freedom leadership of Kashmir and would continue to remain steadfast in their commitment towards Kashmir's struggle for right to self determination," the spokesman said.
"The delegation stated that people of Chenab Valley are also being subjecting to various forms of atrocities and challenges for their affiliation with the Kashmir struggle," he added.
Mirwaiz, according to the spokesman, told the delegation that Kashmir's political movement for self-determination was not confined to any one region or district, but was about the people of entire people of J&K.
"It is a mass movement of and for the people of entire Jammu and Kashmir and all people are committed to take it to its rightful end," the spokesman quoted Mirwaiz as having said.
Meanwhile, the spokesman strongly condemned the killing of two civilians Muhammad Yousuf Rather and Aqib Rather at the hands of government forces, stating that "The forces have unleashed ultimate repression across Kashmir where in youth are killed, maimed and injured with the deadly pellets and bullets."
