The strategic Srinagar-Jammu highway opened for traffic hours after it was closed due to landslides and at Digdool and sliding of shooting stones in Banihal-Ramban area.

An official said that traffic movement was suspended on the highway due to landslides following incessant rains since last night.

He said the construction companies manning the highway pressed men and machinery into service and cleared the road, following which traffic movement was restored.

The official said that vehicles carrying Amarnath yatris and other travelers were moving despite continuous rains.
