Five persons sustained grievous burn injuries in an oxygen cylinder blast which was triggered during unloading of cylinders in a store of JP Industries at Baglihar hydroelectric project Chanderkote Thursday morning, police said.
Police said among five injured persons one is engineer. All the injured are workers of contractor company M/s JP Industries.
The injured were shifted by police and co-workers to district hospital Ramban from where four were shifted to Government Medical Collage and Hospital Jammu as for advanced treatment.
The injured have been identified as Ravinder Singh son of Dhone Singh of Punjab, Mohan Lal son of Pream Nath of Kunfer Chanderkote, Faqir Chand son of Hem Raj of Kunfer Chanderkote, Kishori Lal of Himachal Pardesh and Satish Sharma.
SSP Ramban Anita Sharma told Greater Kashmir that the blast occurred due to some negligence at the time of unloading oxygen cylinders utilized for gas welding at the project.
"Apparently there was some mishandled by the workers. However we have sealed the place of occurrence for investigation," Sharma said.
An FIR also been registered at Police Station Chanderkote.
