A man was killed while another sustained critical injuries in separate road accidents in Rajouri and Kishtwar districts on Tuesday.
The Jammu and Kashmir police said, "45-year-old Rajesh Kumar, son of Mansa Ram, was riding his motorcycle, when at Ghai village of Sunderbani, it hit a tree along the road. As a result, he sustained critical injuries and was rushed to sub-district hospital Sunderbani by the locals." Kumar died while undergoing treatment, the police said, adding that a postmortem examination was conducted and the body was handed over to the family for last rites.
An FIR has been registered at Sunderbani police station and police are investigating the case further.
Meanwhile, another motorcyclist, identified as Faroq Ahmed, met with an accident near Sanghambati, Chatroo in Kishtwar.
A police officer said, "Faroq Ahmed, a government teacher, was riding his motorcycle, JK17 5871, when at Sanghambati, it (motorcycle) collided with a tanker coming from the opposite direction."
Ahmed sustained critical injuries in the accident, the officer said, adding that he was airlifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for advanced treatment.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident.
