Congress holds workers’ convention

To discuss strategy for Udhampur-Doda seat regarding the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, district Congress committee (DCC), Doda, Saturday held a high-level workers' convention at Bhaderwah.

The convention was organised under the chairmanship ofdistrict president Congress, Sheikh Majeeb Ali, at his residence SarafanMohalla, Bhaderwah. Senior leaders among a large number of workers fromdifferent areas of the district participated in the convention.

The convention was aimed to ask workers to visit everysingle area of the constituency and convey the Congress party's agenda ofdevelopment, peace and communal harmony.

Ex-minister Mohammad Sharief Niaz, former president of BMC,Javed Azad, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Mohammad Ashraf and Shabir Ahmed Bagwan, amongother senior leaders spoke on the occasion.

Accusing the BJP of polarizing the country to "hide itsfailures and neglecting Chenab Valley", Majeeb Ali said, "It is time to forgeunity and give a befitting reply to those who were hell bent on trying todestroy the social fabric of the country."

He said that RSS and its proxies in the state will "try topolarize the situation, by fanning passions, because they have nothing to offerin terms of development and stability".

He asked the workers to caution the people in not fallingprey to the divisive agenda of communal forces and elect a developmental, peaceloving and communal harmony supporting Congress government.

Speaking on the occasion, other senior leaders also lashedout at BJP and their allied parties.

Naresh Manhas, Mohammad Ashraf, Khalid Mughal, Shabir AhmedBagwan and others were also present on the occasion.
