‘2 arrested, narcotics recovered’

The Jammu and Kashmir police Sunday claimed to have arrested two men and allegedly recovered a consignment of contraband drugs from their possession, here in Kishtwar town.

A police officer said, "A checkpoint was laid near HadyalChowk. During checking, two suspects were intercepted, but they, on seeing thepolice, tried to flee. The alert cops chased the duo down and upon theirsearch, hashish and contraband capsules were recovered."

The accused have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed andMohammad Saleem.

The arrest and recovery were made by a police team, led bystation house officer, Kishtwar, inspector Bashir.

"During questioning, it was found that one of the suspects,Mushtaq Ahmed, is a shopkeeper and owns a shop near Hadyal Chowk. He allegedlyused to sell drugs and intoxicant capsules among youth, especially students,who were victims of the racket," the officer said.
