Jammu and Kashmir police Sunday booked six persons for not depositing their licensed arms at their respective police stations, here in Kishtwar.
Pertinently, the district magistrate, Angrez Singh Rana, onFebruary 28, 2018, had issued an order, asking all licensed weapon holders todeposit their arms within 15 days at their respective police stations.
Senior superintendent of police, Kishtwar, said, "Since thelast date for depositing weapons has expired, consequently under thesupervision of deputy superintendent of police, DAR, Kishtwar, Adil Rishu, twoFIRs have been lodged at Chatroo police station against Abdul Rehman, MangatRam, Krishan Lal, Ghulam Hussain, Nazir Ahmed and Abdul Ganim for notdepositing their licensed weapons in concerned police station, thus violatingthe DM Kishtwar's orders."
Deputy superintendent of police, Kishtwar, Adil Rishu, toldGreater Kashmir: "There are 634 licensed weapons in district Kishtwar. Out ofthese, about 350 weapons, including seven that were seized on Sunday, have beendeposited till date."
The SSP said that an investigation has been launched andother people who have not deposited their weapons till date are beingidentified. "Action as per law will be taken against all of the violators," hesaid.
