8 shops, 6 houses gutted in Marmat area of Doda

In yet another fire incident, property worth crores was reduced to ashes in a devastating fire in which 6 residential houses and 8 shops were gutted at Goha area of Marmat in District Doda Monday afternoon.

According to reports, 6 residential buildings and 8 shops came under mysterious blaze in main market of Goha in Marmat area, 42 km from District headquarters Doda.

   

A police team along with fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the flames with the help of locals, but till then 4 residential structures and 8 shops were completely damaged, while two other houses got partially damaged. No casualty has been reported in the incident.

“Fire has been completely extinguished and we are assessing the losses,” said SP Operations Doda, Ravinder Pal Singh, adding that preliminary reports suggest that the fire started due to short circuit in a residential house followed by gas cylinder blasts. 

“I have taken up the matter with DDC Doda Anshul Garg and priority of the administration is to provide relief to the affected families,” the SP added. 

Earlier, three houses and 7 shops were gutted at Kahara area of Doda on 12th of January.
