In order to strengthen their bond with the local populace, the army organized a communal harmony meet at Suigwari area of Doda district on Wednesday.
The meeting was organised at 4 sector rashtriya rifles (RR) headquarter, under the leadership of commander 4 sector RR, brigadier N J Singh.
Besides the commanding officer, about 50 prominent persons of the district, including educationists, religious scholars, sarpanches, panches and numberdars and army personnel participated in the meeting.
During the meet, detailed discussions on various topics related to infrastructure, social facilities, education and religious harmony in the region were conducted.
Speaking on the occasion, brigadier Singh highlighted various schemes being run by army to empower the youth, especially recruitment training. "Without public cooperation, nothing can be done, as people play an important role towards peace and development of any area," he said.
