The land grabbers and illegal encroachers across the district are taking advantage of the pen-down strike of Patwaris and Girdawars.As per reports, illegal structures have been allegedly raised and erected on the state land at various places of the old district headquarter town. "The encroachers know that the Patwaris and Girdawars are on strike and there is no one to stop their construction work in the town." the locals said.
The local alleged, "It is a matter of surprise that almost all illegal constrictions are located in the jurisdiction of the Municipal Committee. This clearly indicates that the authorities under Municipal Committee are hand in glove with the violators and encroachers."
They further said that after completion of illegal constructions, the applicants will seek registration of the illegal shops and residential buildings. "We appeal to the Revenue Minister to remove all the encroachments," they said.
Greater Kashmir tried to contact the local Deputy Commissioner, but he was not available for comments.
On being contacted by Greater Kashmir, Assistant Commissioner Revenue assured that action under law will be initiated after consultation with the concerned Tehsildar and executive officers of respective Municipal Committees. He further assured that no one will be allowed to take advantage of the strike of revenue officials.
