The highway town Banihal today remained shut for the third consecutive day with markets and educational intuitions remaining closed in protest against civilian killings in Kashmir and excessive use of force on the protesters.

Pertinently, a far flung area, Neel Bathu, Banihal, also observed shutdown on the call given by Hurriyat leaders. All shops business establishments including educational institutions remained closed in protest against civilian killings in Kashmir. Scores of youth took out a procession against the innocent killings and use of pellet guns by the security forces on the peaceful demonstrators in the valley.

They were chanting slogans in favor of Azadi and against the security forces. This is the first time that the people participated and joined protests on the call given by valley based leaders.
