Banihal, Ramsu residents complain frequent traffic jams along highway

The four-laning of Jammu Srinagar National Highway along 35-km stretch from Jaswal bridge, Karool to Banihal is giving tough time to the transporters and commuters.

People in two sub divisions of Banihal and Ramsu and tehsilheadquarter towns said there is no alternate service road from Ramban toBanihal where the suspension of traffic has become a routine affair.

   

The commuters alleged that the work was going on at snail’space. They alleged that the contractors have failed to build alternate roadnear execution sites for the convenience of the people.

“The condition of the National Highway has gone from bad toworse as the no repair and maintenance work has been executed by the contractorcompanies,” they said.

“By the unplanned digging along the highway, the airpollution has increased in Ramban, Chanderkote and other areas along thehighway,” they said.

They said the highway has developed potholes and ditcheswhich requires immediate repairing.
