Banihal-Srinagar rail service remains suspended

Rail service remain suspended on Sunday between Banihal and Kashmir valley as the authorities, on the recommendations of divisional administration and police, shut down the service in view of apprehension of law and order problem in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Meanwhile, commuters felt cheated as they did not have any prior information about the suspension. “The authorities do not feel it is necessary to inform people about the suspension of rail service. Isn’t it a duty of the administration? How are we supposed to commute? Nothing can happen at the last moment,” an irked commuter said.

While talking to Greater Kashmir, he alleged, “As there was no prior information, public transporters took full advantage of our helplessness. They charge exorbitant rates and there is no check.”
