Baramulla man dies as car rolls down into gorge on Srinagar-Jammu highway

Srinagar Oct 30: A Baramulla resident died after the car he was traveling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a 200 metres deep gorge near Makarkoot area of Banihal in J&K’s Ramban district on the Srinagar-Jammu highway on Saturday morning.

An official told Greater Kashmir that the car was on way to Srinagar from Jammu when it met with the accident in the area around 16 km from Banihal town in sub-division Ramsoo falling in the jurisdiction of Police Station Ramsoo.

   

In the accident, the driver Akeel Ahmad Shaw, son of Mohammad Syed Shaw, a resident of Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, died on the spot, said the official adding his body was retrieved by a team of locals, police assisted by CRPF and Army which swung into action soon after the accident.

As per the official, Shaw was the lone passenger traveling in the car at the time.
