Bhaderwah admin launches snow clearance

As the weather improved on Saturday after heavy snowfall in the past 48 hours, the administration launched a snow clearance operation in and around Bhaderwah town on war footing, while power and water supply was partially restored.

The mechanical department pressed their men and machinery to clear Bhaderwah-Doda road, besides started snow clearance on other link roads of Bhaderwah Saturday morning. The municipal committee, Bhaderwah, also started snow clearance from different lanes of the town as well, providing some relief to the residents.

   

Ajit Singh, junior engineer, mechanical division, Khelleni, said, “We have started restoration work and managed to clear essential roads, including Doda-Bhaderwah, Seri Bazaar-Jai Road, Dalain and Chobia link roads.”

“Wrong parking by the people is hampering restoration work, but we are on the job and have deployed 2 JCBs and a snow clearing machine. We are hopeful that by Sunday, we will be able to restore all link roads of Bhaderwah,” he said.

An official said that potable water supply and electricity has been restored in Bhaderwah.

Meanwhile, people appreciated the administration, especially mechanical division for their swift action to clear snow. They also appealed to the MCB to clear all lanes, as last time, according to locals, “most of lanes were left unattended.

Imtiaz-Ur-RehmanJaggu, a resident of MohallaSarafan, said that it is appreciable that the administration started snow clearance process immediately after the weather improved. “MCB should also remove snow from all lanes on priority as people face lots of problems,” he said.
