Chenab Valley shuts against last week’s Jammu violence

Normal life was affected in Bhadarwah, Doda, Thathri, Bhallesa and Kishtwar of Chenab Valley on Thursday due to a joint shutdown call issued by the Anjuman-e-Islamia Bhadarwah, Seerat Committee Doda, Jamia Masjid Committee Thathri and Majlis-e-Shoura Kishtwar to condemn harassment of the Muslim community and damage to their properties at Jammu.

Shops and other business establishments of the Muslims in whole Chenab Valley remained closed, however government offices and banks functioned normally while traffic mostly remained off the roads.

Anjuman-e-Islamia (AIB) president Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh termed the incident as implementation of RSS agenda against the people especially Muslims of Chenab Valley, Pir Panchal and Kashmir.

Denouncing the attack on Muslims and their property, AIB president termed Jammu incident as unfortunate.

“It’s really unfortunate and uncalled for the way in which Muslims were attacked and their properties damaged in an organised manner at Jammu. And this all happened under the very nose of Governor, which clearly indicates that Modi has given a free hand to rioting Hindu nationalists to carry on their agenda against Muslims particularly belonging to Chenab Valley, Pir Panchal and Kashmir,” said AIB President, Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh.
