The residents of hilly district Ramban alleged that they are forced to consume contaminated water being supplied by Public Health Engineering  Department (PHE) thus posing serious threat to their health.

They alleged that the water supply pipes have been damaged in many areas, and at many places, they are leaking due to which dirt and other contaminants get mixed with the water being supplied to the residents of Ramban Town.

The locals alleged that the matter has been brought to the notice of concerned higher authorities several times but nothing has been done to sort out the problem.

The residents of town Ramban alleged that the water of many drains also mixes with drinking water due to damaged and leaking supply pipes at many places in the town which is a serious threat to the people's health.

They also complained that dirty water goes directly in the reservoirs and storage tanks where from the water is being supplied to the consumers.

People alleged that water is being supplied without using bleaching powder or other preventives.

The members of civil society have requested District Development Commissioner to intervene in the matter and direct the concerned authorities to ensure supply of safe drinking water to the people.
