SOG man injured in grenade attack outside DPL Doda

Doda July 5: A cop of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police was injured after unidentified persons hurled a grenade on a group of the personnel outside District Police Lines Doda on Monday, police said.

DP Operations Doda, Raj Kumar told Greater Kashmir that the grenade was hurled inside an under-construction building outside the gate of DPL Doda where the cops were on duty.

   

In the blast, one of the SOG cops, Zahoor Ahmed, 45, son of Muneer Ahmed, a resident of Poonch district received splinter injuries, Kumar said adding Zahoor was removed to Associated Hospital Government Medical College Doda, where he is said to be stable.

Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Yudhvir said that the cop has injury in his leg and is under going treatment. “He is stable and out of danger,” he added.

SP Operations Doda said that soon after the attack, additional police and army personnel were rushed to the area to take stock of the situation.

Kumar said the area was cordoned to nab the attackers.

He further said that the attack could be the handiwork of “active OGWs, who want to revive the militancy in the area” even though Doda officially remains militancy free as on date.
